Managing Store Locations

Learn how to add, edit and manage store locations, choose a default location and control online order fulfilment in PlanetShopping.

Purpose

Locations let you manage the places your PlanetShopping store uses for inventory and online order fulfilment. You can add multiple locations, maintain their address information and choose which location should be used as the default.

Open Locations

From the Merchant Panel, select Locations from the main navigation.

The Locations page shows your configured locations and their current status. Your default location is identified with a Default label.

Add a location

Go to Locations.
Select Add Location.
Enter the Location Name.
Enter the full address, including address, apartment or suite where applicable, city, country or region, province or state, and postal or ZIP code.
Enter the phone number and extension where applicable.
Select Fulfill online order from this location if the location should be used to fulfil online orders.
Select Set this location as default if you want PlanetShopping to use it as the default location.
Select Save.

Manage existing locations

The Locations page shows the locations connected to your store. Locations can display as active or inactive.

Use the edit control beside a location to update its details. The location form lets you change the location name, address, phone information, online order fulfilment setting and default-location setting.

Default location

PlanetShopping uses the default location when no other location is specified.

To change it:

Go to Locations.
Select Change Default Location.
Choose the location you want to use as the default.
Select Save.

You can also select Set this location as default while editing a location.

Locations and inventory

Locations work with PlanetShopping inventory management. In Products → Inventory, you can select a location to view and manage the inventory assigned to that location.

Locations and inventory transfers

When creating an inventory transfer, PlanetShopping asks you to choose an Origin and Destination. These locations identify where inventory is moving from and where it is being received.

Can I have more than one store location?

Yes. Use Add Location to add additional locations to your PlanetShopping store.

What is the default location?

The default location is the location PlanetShopping uses when no other location is specified.

Can I change my default location?

Yes. Select Change Default Location, choose the location and select Save. You can also set a location as default while editing it.

Can a location fulfil online orders?

Yes. Enable Fulfill online order from this location for a location that should be used for online order fulfilment.

Can I edit a location after creating it?

Yes. Use the edit control beside the location to update its details.

How do locations relate to inventory?

Inventory can be viewed and managed by location. Locations are also used as the origin and destination when creating inventory transfers.
